Antonino Benincasa
Antonino Benincasa, designer (* 1967). In 1993 he graduated in Visual Communication at the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. He moves from Germany to Italy in 1996 and opens in Milan his own design office «72 dpi». Between 1997 and 2005 he teaches Visual Communication at the Politecnico di Milano, Faculty of Design. In 1999, together with Nicole Husmann, he opened in Milan the design studio «Husmann-Benincasa Corporate & Brand Design». In 2000 he was the winner of the international competition for the Logo and Corporate Identity of the Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006. In 2001 he was commissioned by TOROC (Turin Organizing Committee) to design the entire corporate identity of the XXth Olympic Winter Games Turin 2006. He designs also the emblem of the Paralympic Games and all sub-brands related to the Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006. Since 2005 he is appointed professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Faculty of Design and Art. His research focus is in the areas of typography, type design, editorial design, and corporate identity. Since 2016 he leads the 1st-semester Fundamental-Design course in visual communication (WUP - Warm-Up).
