How can we avoid consumption in everyday practices?

SalvaMenta – autoproduzione per i piccoli

Alberto Cappellina

Most of our waste is invisible to many people because it is produced and discarded during the different steps of the supply chain. This overconsumption and overdisposition of prime materials into single use items is harming the planet to a point of no-return. A possible solution for this issue is the DIY: going independent from the supply chain.

SalvaMenta aims at reducing the waste and animal abse the toothpaste industry creates by teaching kids to create and print their own toothpaste. By mixing all natural ingredients kids can have fun printing their own dehydrted toothpaste to use and/or give to parents and friends as a gift. SalvaMenta wants to foster an eco-social thinking from the early school years by providing few pieces and an intuitive, functional shape, while also giving natural materials and minimal instructions.

A project made in the course

ATELIERprojekte SS21

ATELIERprojekte is conceived as a design experience, aimed at refining and testing technique, creativity, personal organization, research, and communication. After the study of diverse typologies of product and companies, each student freely chose a personal project to work with, consisting in an object to develop, also imagining its potential producer. The path is completed by a rich formation in digital modelling and a theoretical deepening of communicative issues touched by the project itself.
