GREECE
Nikolaos Mavropoulos
Greece is an architectural project that translates Greek heritage into a contemporary spatial expression. Rooted in iconic architectural references and a historic event that originated in Greece, the project explores ideas of origin, honor, and cultural continuity. Constructed in concrete, the design frames a living natural element at its core, creating a dialogue between monumentality and life. Through a restrained and symbolic composition, the project emphasizes the relationship between architecture, nature, and enduring collective values.
This was the first attempt ready for the midterm presentation so that students could engage with the professors and their fellow students and start discussing about possible iterations. The scale of the first attempt was not the right one, however it was made more for food for thought and explore the procedure of creating a mold, make the mix with the concrete and finally pour the concrete blend to the mold until it dries completely.
The final outcome has turned into real scale, smoother due to experimentation and ready to become the house for the chosen plant which is a small olive tree, very connected with the Greek culture, history and the Olympic Games.
