Could scent become the first sip?

This project transforms traditional wine tasting into a multisensory experience that begins before the first sip. Instead of simply drinking wine, the user is invited to explore how scent influences perception, memory, and taste.


The experience starts with a minimalist tasting set. A bottle of white wine chosen by the user is placed into the wooden station. In front of it stands a spray bottle with a small funnel attachment, intuitively guiding the user to fill it with the wine. A simple holder containing a cork with a spray nozzle creates a visual connection that naturally explains the next step: sealing the bottle and transforming the wine into a fine aromatic mist.


The wine is then sprayed into the air, onto the wrist, and into the glass before it is finally tasted normally. By separating aroma from drinking, the project makes the invisible aspects of flavor tangible and immersive. The set encourages curiosity and awareness, turning wine tasting into an interaction 
between scent, atmosphere, memory, and expectation.

Designing How Things Feel (Right) - Usability & Emotional Interaction in Physical Products

How do objects shape experiences? This course explores the relationship between function, emotion, and interaction in product design. Through the development of an emotion-driven swing and a series of “Tasting Tools” centered around bread, chocolate, and wine, students investigated how design influences perception, behavior, and experience. The resulting projects demonstrate that products are not only used—they are experienced.
