How to use mirroring to create a zine about self-reflection

This project aims to explore the concept of mirroring, starting with the obvious state of reflection, to inner reflection. Three suggestive palindromes were chosen to incite questions
about the state of the world today. Then, they have been transposed into hand cut letters, and reflected into mirrors which showed the nature of the phrases having the same meaning even reversed. In the end, a zine tied the concept together because of its folds, once again reinforcing the effect of dividing, but also building from it.

How to use stream of consciousness to create a card game

This project has been developed using the stream of consciousness for the purpose of finding a way to illustrate it visually. The noticing of thoughts, emotions and sensations over the course of two weeks was turned into a set of 54 playing cards, which feature the three categories. Meant as an exploration tool, the game can be played alone or with others, connecting the cards into a mosaic, while explanations about the choices reveal new perspectives of communication.

How to use Perforations to create a booklet about encouragements

Perforations are classically used to indicate where a certain material should be torn, or to permit air circulation and light flow. Continuing these uses and translating them into a metaphorical sense, this project aims to represent the effect encouragements have on people during challenging times. Messages have been transformed into morse code that have been perforated into the paper of the booklet.

What’s a Tool?

Does the tool change the hand that uses it? Students explored several tools to build design projects, documenting their process with vertical video. Each video shows one tool’s arc: from idea finding to experiment, design, and explanation. Creative tools shape what we create.
