DIY Material Kits Program
MA Eco-Social Design Semester
2024/25 WS Avoclaydo is a project that turns avocado seeds, often thrown away, into a useful material. Using a simple DIY kit, you can transform these seeds into a woody-textured material through a clay-like process.
The project aims to show how food waste, like avocado pits, can be repurposed rather than discarded. It's about finding new uses for everyday scraps and creating awareness around reducing waste and thinking more sustainably.

DIY Material Kits
Orange peels, peanut shells, avocado seeds, the daily consumption of our favorite foods often goes together with leftovers. What if we give food waste a second life? Taking scraps as the starting point to create something new? With these Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Material Kits we document and share our hands-on research with recipes to inspire and enable (future) applications.
