How do you make sewing on the go efficient and fun?

Armando

Elena Pandini

Every now and then a hole appears in your pants and the solution might not be ignoring it. As compact as your pocket, Armando is a portable sewing kit made out of compressed cardboard. In three layers and less width than a credit card, he stores 3 needles, 2 threads, 1 cutter, 1 button and 1+ safety pins. The kit looks like a small character, which fits right in your hand and it is always there to help you repair your garments. Armando invites you to acknowledge the value of the clothes that follow you everywhere, and he thinks it is time to start saying thank you by taking care of them.

The safety pin becomes a functioning part of the design, acting as a closure for the kit.

2/3

Once opened, the needles are found. The rectangular hole helps to push them out using the fingers.

3/3

What's a sewing kit without a scissor to cut the extra thread? The small blade acts as one, remaining safe but functional.

ATELIERprojekte WS_24/25

Generally a young designer who approaches the reality of the profession is not forced to wait for a company to give him a direct assignment but can, on his own initiative, come forward proposing new projects.

However, he must have clear ideas and first of all identify his fields of interest and the sector in which he wishes to enter and then which companies he would like to collaborate with. He needs to develop a particular sensitivity to understand the different philosophies of the companies he is considering and to perceive the "gaps" within the existing collections.
