can light be fished?

Santiago Lamp

Gabriele Sponsiello

The process as mentioned above was a bit unorthodox, I reasoned a lot over the shape itself and made few material models. My concept is based on an extremely light lamp, a line that from a large base draws an arc that ends with a warm lights as if the light was fished, the light is covered with jute to give a warm and rough feeling and the shape of the cover is to create a spotlight to read. Being an arc the shape passes over the user without taking too much space, the cable goes through metal rings that have the function to keep the cable close to the main body and to recall the shape of a fishing rod. I use metal wire also because I liked the idea of an object that if touched moved as if alive , in this case as if a fish had tapped the fishing rod, making it move gently, and of course a material like metal wire allowed that in a perfect way. For the making itself not many machines were needed, only welding and a metal bender, the rest was made by hand.

A Line Going for a Walk - Finding Strength Within Simplicity

“A drawing is simply a line going for a walk. “ Paul Klee The creative process often resembles a wandering line — not always as straightforward as the one you’re about to follow, but rather unpredictable, layered, and rich in detours. Throughout this semester, we focused on exploring that process in depth — through a series of short workshops and one final project, centered around a single material: metal wire. This industrial material quietly accompanies us in everyday life — subtle, almost invisible.
