do we really care?

NO NORMAL THESIS PROJECT DURING GENOCIDE

Piera Pagnacco

This artwork embodies my beliefs about art, care, and the role of the artist in contemporary society.

I am presenting the dissonance between an acceptable care-centred art project (aimed at supporting and comforting neurodivergent people) and an academically unsanctioned application of my artistic skills to effectively address sociopolitical problems, in this specific instance for the benefit of the Palestinian Cause.

This effort is represented by a physical, home-printed archive of all the reasons I could not carry on like nothing was happening: a testimony on how my mind, labelled as ADHD, was not disabled at all when it was a matter of acting in line with my beliefs; a documentation of what I have seen through screens and with my own eyes, of texts I’ve read and contributed to write, and more; overall, an artwork that has the humble aim to help the Palestinian cause by unapologetically reclaiming the political role of art.
