What if cystitis relief wasn't taken, but worn?

CÂLEO, L’abbraccio caloroso per alleviare il dolore della cistite.

Talita Julie Denniel

Cystitis regularly affects many women and cause pain and a high level of physical and emotional stress. There is a lack of everyday, non- pharmaceutical, solutions that offer relief in acute cases and this bachelor thesis deals with the development of clothing (a panty and bodysuit) designed to provide support during the crisis. This support is achieved through thermotherapy, using microwavable seed bags that fit into specific pockets to provide warmth and relief to the affected area, offering a soothing answer to an often taboo but everyday problem.

1/6

The seed pad is T-shaped to provide relief through thermotherapy on both the lower abdomen and genital area. In addition, the bodysuit has a front closure that allows for greater pressure of the pad on the skin for those who desire it.

2/6

The bodysuit version warms the kidney area, lower abdomen and genital area.

3/6

The bodysuit has a rear opening that makes urination easier and more comfortable for those who need to go frequently, avoiding the need to pull it down completely each time.

4/6

The opening is located at the front for hygiene reasons and to prevent it from hanging in the toilet. An external element, a ‘drip guard’, can be added in case of occasional urinary leakage.

5/6

Unlike the bodysuit, which also warms the kidney area, this version of the underwear provides concentrated warmth only to the lower abdomen and genital area.

6/6

As it is easier to lower several times, this version does not require a rear opening. Furthermore, the pocket is internal, ensuring greater contact with the skin.
