Patti chiari, amicizia lunga. Reimagining collaborative housing through community engagement.
Gaia DInzeo
This project explores the concept of housing as a fundamental human right, challenging the current approach to housing in modern society. It delves into the housing crisis in Italy, emphasizing its systemic nature and its impact on the economy, society, and
the environment.
Shifting the focus from housing as a commodity to housing as a shared resource, the research highlights alternative models such as homesharing, particularly for young people and students. In cities like Bolzano, rising living costs have made housing increasingly unaffordable, creating a pressing need for creative solutions that promote independence, mobility, and social interaction.
After analyzing case studies, mapping the local stakeholders and conducting ethnographic research with two host families, the project developed a prototype homesharing service in collaboration with the MUA association. A series of three workshops was organized to engage students and landlords in defining an equitable housing model that moves away from the logic of housing as a commodity.
