"PassaTempo" is a project aimed at all residents - the youngest and the oldest. Thanks to the geometric design, the modules easily connect to each other, creating a nice place for relaxation, conversation and play. Each of the elements includes additional functionalities such as games, a place to draw, or a small library. Thanks to these uncommon additions, the facility becomes an attractive meeting point for children, and the possibility of a moment of relaxation encourages the older ones. PassaTempo tames being in a public space and encourages creating relationships with neighbours. It's a design connected to Don Bosco Social's needs, the partner of our project. We proposed the seats as tools to support their activities.

The side of the furniture was created as a place to store, display or organize. During an art workshop, it becomes a place to present works and store tools.

We associated the second seat with the theme of drawing, as the Don Bosco Social association is conducting several activities. During the workshops, it will become an additional space for work and resting.

The box itself is an outdoor seating space, which connects to the idea of spending time outside. The model has been attached to the columns with the tension belts.

String Figures - Transforming Together

"String Figures - Transforming Together" is a long-term research project conducted by the Master of Eco-Social Design in the Don Bosco district in Bolzano. Through collaboration with local stakeholders in the city and the neighbourhood, students delve into the living conditions, needs, wishes, and ideas of the inhabitants of Don Bosco. After an extensive research phase, which involves on-site interventions, numerous community encounters, and discussions, the students, working in small groups, design transformative processes addressing issues such as the use of public space, the diminishing green areas, the significance of nature in the city, social cohesion, and the role of play in everyday life. Approaching the neighborhood and the city of Bolzano with an impartial viewpoint, international students generate inspiration and alternative perspectives on how public urban spaces can foster community engagement. During the winter semester of 2023/2024, ten projects were developed, each approaching these topics and research focuses from different perspectives.
