Were you silent or were you silenced?

The loud butler

Argentina Carrino

The silent butler was born as a piece of furniture in the 1700 used mainly in the dining room and it was meant to be an aid to the people sitting at the dining table, then it moved to the bedroom, maintaining its original function, “helping” the person, but in this case holding the clothes. I located this product inside of the project as a fundamental step in every waking up process, the one where people dress up.

With my new interpretation of the silent butler I wanted to translate the use of the object through the motion of the butler present in the common imagination. Giving a voice to the object that suggests its use itself, without being any longer silent.

The power of Play

“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct.” Carl Jung Play is a way of being in this world. It is our way to engage with it and make it ours through our personal expression. Therefore, we better take play more seriously and use its full potential to explore and understand our world – such as children do. As human beings and especially as designers.
