Can an object belonging to the history of our territory become a new product?

ErgoCurve bar stool and table

Lorenzo Vezzani

These two products made for the 'As found' project are made entirely of ash wood, so that they form a family of furniture products for a bar environment. Both are inspired by two ancient objects belonging to South Tyrolean culture, which served as inspiration and a point of reference for me during the two parts of this project. The stool consists of three legs and two circular bases. The characteristic of this product is that it is completely inspired by its source material, specifically it takes up a detail that characterises one of my products: the possibility of adjusting the height at which the feet rest through holes in the central part. The small table is also inspired by an antique product, and is also made to work in pairs with the stool: the dimensions are similar in diameter and they are made to work together.

As Found. Design Inspiration from Regional Folk Craft Museums.

Human history can be found in the things we have made and used. We furnish our world with everyday objects, works of art and ritual artefacts. Many of these things seem to have a story of their own, and some even have a career that has brought them to the museum. Taken out of time and context, they can now be found and discovered in glass cabinets.
