Is it better to knit or to crochet?

Akai

Ilaria Failo

Akai is the rebranding project of the «Gomitolorosa» association. This association provides knittingtherapy for cancer patients in hospitals. The name Akai comes from the Japanese legend of the red thread «Umnei no akai ito», which emphasises the idea that there are predestined bonds that are indestructible. Akai in Japanese means red, which is why the whole project is based on one colour. The new visual identity reflects the unbreakable bond that patients develop through therapy and creations, symbolising strength and lasting connection.

Make It Better

Design can make things better. In this project, students are re-imagining identity designs for institutions, companies, places, and individuals. Discussing past and current influences, and exploring cutting-edge tech in interactive workshops, students develop a critical understanding of visual identity design, emphasising practical experience, iterative thinking, and fun.
