Ask Groovy is a collaborative project involving us, a team of three students, along with Climate Action South Tyrol and the South Tyrol Music Festival. In this project, we address the topic of sustainability in local music events. Throughout the project, we had the opportunity to interview and collaborate with various stakeholders across South Tyrol, Italy, and Europe, providing a broader perspective.

Based on our research and development, we created a system to collect, analyze, and visualize data from festivals. This system evaluates and highlights key insights that organizers of these music events can use to reflect on their practices. Following the evaluation, we included an inspirational and informative section showcasing sustainable practices and content. Moving from the "Inspire" section, the website guides you to the "Realize" part, where we share the local changemakers network, allowing our audience to find suppliers for the services or products they need.

When setting up the semester exhibition, we showed the website on a large display so that it could be seen by multiple people. As well as the website, we also had three props, including Speculative Design's 'Future Festival Shoes' to encourage visitors to discuss soil compaction. Disco lights were conversation starters about light pollution and an empty bird's nest showed the impact of human leisure activities on wildlife.

Project 2 - String Figures

In the second Semester of MA in Eco-Social Design, student teams cooperate with external partners on “real world” projects. The partners were invited to contribute with a specific issue, challenge or topic, which served as starting points for the students to develop answers, solutions, but also to raise new questions. During the spring of 2024, eleven projects were developed, each one exploring a specific topic and with its own perspective. In collaboration with / partners: BASIS Vinschgau Venosta, Blufink, Comune di Bolzano Settore Donna, Comune di Stelvio, Climate Action South Tyrol, South Tyrol Music Festivals, COOLTour, Foundation Haydn, OfficineVispa, Politermica, Regreening Rentsh, Wiesl.
